Greece

Lockheed Martin has a long history of working with the Greek government, dating back to 1943, when it acquired its first squadron of Martin A-30 Baltimore Mk III, IV and Vs. Since then, Lockheed Martin has worked closely with the Hellenic Aerospace Industry (HAI), to design, build, equip and provide the management for a state-of-the-art facility for the repair of the Hellenic Air Force aircraft, engines, accessories and electronics/avionics.

Air Force Programs
In 1975, the Hellenic Air Force received its first of 12 C-130H Hercules airlifters. Deliveries were completed in May 1977.
The completion of the 18 months co-production program of structural components for the fuselage of the C-130J was achieved in Tanagra in collaboration with the Hellenic Aerospace Industry (HAI).

The Hellenic Air Force selected its first 40 F-16C/D Block 30 fighter aircraft in 1987. Today the Hellenic Air Force flies 60 New Block 52+ aircraft. In 2005, the Hellenic Air Force ordered an additional 30 F-16C/D Block 52+ aircraft, the delivery of which commenced in 2009. The F-16s are equipped with the Low-Altitude Navigation and Targeting Infrared System for Night (LANTIRN) targeting and navigation pods.
In 1995, the first of four P-3A Orions were delivered to HAI for ground instruction training and spare parts reclamation; and the first P-3B was officially handed over to the Hellenic Navy in 1996.

For more than 30 years, Lockheed Martin and the Hellenic Aerospace Industry (HAI) have had a strong strategic relationship in areas of co-production, maintenance, repair, overhaul and upgrades. In 1975, Lockheed Martin won a contract for a turnkey operation to establish the HAI, the leading aerospace company of Greece. The project was to design, build, equip and provide the management for a state-of-the-art facility for the repair of the Hellenic Air Force aircraft, engines, accessories and electronics/avionics.

During 2001-2006, Lockheed Martin assisted Hellenic Aerospace Industry by investing in manufacturing facilities expansion to accommodate growth as a result of F-16 co-production activities. In 2008 HAI & LM jointly inaugurated the New HAI Paint Dry Stripping facility.  The facility was financed, built, equipped and provided to HAI on a turn-key basis by Lockheed Martin as part of the Peace Xenia IV F-16 Offset Programs. In addition to the increased productivity, Dry Stripping is also friendlier to the environment than other techniques.

The Hellenic Air Force selected Araxos Air Base for infrastructure upgrades, completed in 2009, to house the new F-16 Advanced Block 52+, which includes two squadron commands, four maintenance hangars and an engine workshop.

Army Programs
The Hellenic Army Aviation equips its Apache AH-64A with the Target Acquisition Designation Sight/Pilot Night Vision Sensor (TADS/PNVS), and the HELLFIRE II missile. The Hellenic Army Aviation flies the new Apache AH-64D with the TADS/PNVS and the Longbow Fire Control Radar.

The Hellenic Army operates the Multiple Launch Rocket System (MLRS) and the Army Tactical Missile System (ATACMS).

The Hellenic Army operates Lockheed Martin’s Tank Driving and Firing Simulator for three Main Battle Tanks: Leopard, M48 and M60.
